About
Visual artist based in Atlanta, GA. From a young age I was drawn to capturing portraits of friends, celebrities and girls I had crushes on. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to a greater understanding and appreciation of the power and influence art on our lives. As of 2015, I threw myself into painting and I know for sure that there aren’t many more things in life I’d rather do. These days my aim is to create compelling and relevant works of art which I hope resonates with anyone viewing it.
My work has been described in a multitude of ways like realistic, hyper realistic, figurative, graphic, bold, surrealist etc. As a self taught artist, I struggle to describe my artistic genre. If I had to choose one word to describe what I try to achieve, it would be Afrofuturism. Afrofuturism is a cultural aesthetic, philosophy that explores the developing intersection of African diaspora culture with history, technology, art and the future. I seek to create work that challenges our preconceived notions of each other and brings us together.
The world is big enough for all of us and we can only save it together so in addition to fostering community with my art, I will be fundraising for the World Wildlife Fund. WWF is "the world’s leading conservation organization. WWF works in 100 countries and is supported by more than one million members in the United States and close to five million globally. WWF's unique way of working combines global reach with a foundation in science, involves action at every level from local to global, and ensures the delivery of innovative solutions that meet the needs of both people and nature." All donations will go towards this cause.
We all have an artistic spirit inside of us. I hope my work taps into your artistic spirit and leaves a lasting impression. I appreciate all the love and support of my artistic endeavors and I look forward to our artistic journey together.
Thank you,
Orisha Nnani
